One of my targets in my action plan was to improve my understanding of QR codes. To do this I have downloaded necessary software to read the QR codes and I have created my own to test.
QR codes offer an excellent way to include digital literacy into the curriculum. I have seen them used across the subjects and children enjoy scanning the codes and they can bring their creations to life. In an art project, I saw the codes used for the children to scan a 3D penguin that they had built (scan the QR code to see a picture of it) to see a video of a penguin in its habitat. During my EYFS placement the staff used QR codes for the parents at parents evening. They could scan their children's work and see what their children had been doing in school. This is a very space efficient way to presenting information. It also introduces young children to simple technology at an early age.
I will continue to use the codes within my own practice and now feel confident to use it across the curriculum.
