During my enquiry based placement, one of the teachers introduced me to a piece of software called "See-saw". She used the software as a digital record of the children's work that parents could see too. For example, she was very impressed with a story that one of the children in her class had written so she took a picture of it and uploaded it to the child's online record. It was evident that the software was a useful form of assessment. The teacher also told me that she uses the software to communicate with parents. She uploads details about events at school and told me that it was practical as it avoids misplaced letters.
I was very impressed with the software and will definitely incorporate it into my own professional practice. I think that documenting the children's work so that parents can see is an excellent way to reinforce positive praise, as well as to build the necessary rapport with parents. On top of this, having a digital collection of work will be immensely useful to refer to in summative assessment.
